E-CCAP

e-Commerce Community Awareness Programme

e-CCAP is a private sector initiative pioneered by Digitalhongkong in promoting community-wide awareness and usage of e-Commerce, with a view to enhancing the competitiveness of Hong Kong; accelerating the growth of our economy, creating wealth and job opportunities for all, and building Hong Kong's status as a regional IT hub. It covers various events in all sectors of the economy, in particular the areas of education, training, youth, health, social welfare, and SME businesses.

As far as education is concerned, Digitalhongkong is keen to develop skills for the future, as digital literacy is of primary importance in developing e-Commerce for businesses and the society as a whole. In this respect, Digitalhongkong has engaged in various activities including recruitment on campus, giving career talks, establishing sponsorships for projects and awarding scholarships, as well as initiating Internet access and opportunities for content development by the community.

Since its inception in May 1999, e-CCAP has made significant achievement in spreading the gospel of e-commerce among the academic establishments and the business community. The launching pad of e-CCAP is the publication of The Hong Kong e-Commerce Studies Series, under which Digital HK has published several volumes, namely Digitalising Hong Kong for the New Millennium; Opportunities for Digital Hong Kong; Knowledgization: The Golden Rule of the New Era ; and a Chinese version of the same, each dealing with a different aspect or aspects of e-commerce. All of these volumes have been widely distributed to key Government officials, leaders of local and foreign corporations, offices of foreign consulate-generals, and are available in all public libraries, as well as those of the universities, schools, and vocational institutes.

A summary of the events conducted under e-CCAP is follows. e-CCAP is a continuing programme, and we extend our warmest welcome to the industry, government concerns, and corporations for sponsorship of, and participation in, the various events.
